The 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations resumes today July 5 as the 32nd edition of African championship entered the round of 16.
The competition’s group stage games came to an end on Tuesday July 2 with 8 teams failing to progress out of the 24 Nations in the maiden 24 nations tournament.
The eight (8) that were crashed out are Angola – Burundi – Guinea-Bissau – Kenya – Mauritania – Namibia – Tanzania –and Zimbabwe.
Ghana after picking three points in their last game against Guinea Bissau joined 15 other nations as they chase their 5th title in their quest to end the 37 years AFCON trophy drought.
The 16 nations are Algeria – Benin – Cameroon – DR Congo – Egypt – Ghana – Guinea – Ivory Coast – Madagascar – Mali – Morocco – Nigeria – Senegal – South Africa – Tunisia and Uganda.
The round of 16 will begin today at 4:00pm with Uganda playing Senegal.
