The 2019 Volta Regional tourism award came off on Friday, 11th September, 2020. The theme for the celebration was Growing Tourism Beyond The Return. Guest of honor was the regional minister Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa. The prestigious award ceremony was held at the Sky Plus Hotel and Resort on 11th September, 2020 in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Ho Technical University was nominated and awarded as best institution excellencing in tourism education and training. The school was part of 26 other industry players and individuals awarded in the tourism and hospitality industry for excellent work throughout the year.
The winners of these wards are chosen based on their standard of operation, prompt and regular payment of levies among others.
According to Alexander Nketia; Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, the awards are given out to appreciate individuals whose contributions to the tourism travel and hospitality industry have been impactful.
The University’s radio station Volta Premier 98.1FM also won the Tourism Oriented Media house of the year (Radio category).
Dignitaries present included Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Tourism Authority, Municipal and District Chief Executives, Regional Director of GTA, Heads of Security and Heads of Department and agencies including the chiefs and award winning.
