HTU Faculty Undergo Training in Teaching and Assessment Techniques

A training workshop has commenced for faculty members of Ho Technical University on teaching and assessment in higher education.
The programme which is under the auspices of the Planning and Quality Assurance Directorate and the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, is being conducted in series to cover all academic faculties and schools of the University.

Dr. Mexoese Nyatuame, Acting Director of Planning and Quality Assurance, speaking at the opening of the training session for lecturers of HTU Business School on Monday, April 12, 2021, said the training was to equip both old and new faculty members with the current techniques in teaching and assessment.



In addition, he said the training was also necessary in meeting quality assurance standards of the University and external regulators.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga who opened the training programme said Continuous Professional Development was very crucial to enhancing research, teaching and learning in the University, and therefore entreated the participants to leverage the opportunity to enrich their skills and knowledge in the teaching trade.


He noted that, the dynamics in higher education require regular in-service training for faculty to be abreast with the current trends in order to meet policy and regulatory requirements. The Vice Chancellor assured Management’s commitment to provide regular and timeous training to facilitate teaching and learning enhancement.

The University, according to the Vice-Chancellor, has secured approval for three more Bachelor Degree programmes in Statistics and Finance, Computer Science and Industrial Art.


The training workshop which will run till the end of April, is being facilitated by Professor Douglas Darko Agyei and Dr. Abednego Kofi Bansah of the Department of Mathematics and ICT Education, University of Cape Coast.

Participating faculty members will be exposed to new pedagogic techniques and effective student learning strategies as well as assessment and evaluation with the use of emerging educational technologies.
