The Volta Regional Boxing Federation have organised a nutritional status evaluation exercise on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, in Aflao, in the Volta Region.
The Boxing Federation’s exercise was to evaluate the nutrition intake of boxers and the effect it have on athletic performance.
The study which was carried out on thirty-five (35) amateur boxers was based on the assessment of nutritional status anthropometric.
The boxers were assessed on their weight, height, BMI, Waist circumference, and hip circumference.
The one day evaluation event also assessed the body fat, skeletal muscle, visceral fat, resting metabolic rate of the athletes as well as their body, age, blood pressure, oxygen saturation (SPO2), pulse and dietary intake of the boxers.
The medical exercise which was sponsored by Mr. Cophie Eli Divine, a PhD student of the University Of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho also examined the performance and fitness indicators of the volta boxers.
The speed, reaction time, agility, flexibility and the endurance level were taken through the performance and fitness exercise.
The amateur boxers expressed their gratitude to the Federation as well as the sponsors for such an important exercise. ”We are very happy for this exercise for it is the first time something like this came here.Now we know what to eat,drink and when to sleep”.
The Volta Regional Chairman of the Federation, Mr. Enam Dagadu said he was happy someone from the region came to their aid.
”I am also happy. For the first time someone from the region came to our aid.We need more of this.Sponsorship is not necessarily money.So I will plead that our people support us in any kind ”.
The chairman expressed his appreciation to the regional coach and the regional director of sports.
