PHC: MP, Chief urge residents of Agotime- Ziope to be counted

Population and Housing Census (PHC), over the years which has been conducted to know the total population of the country to help government to equally distribute resources and developmental projects commenced on Sunday, 27th June, 2021 with the counting of floating populace and continued on Monday, 28th June, 2021.

The Member of Parliament for Agotime- Ziope, Mr. Charles Agbeve was in his constituency purposely for the census. He encouraged his electorates to partake in the exercise as to avoid future hindrance for developmental projects in the constituency and also help government and policy makers to plan for the country.

“We don’t have a district hospital, so let use this as a Clarion call, that the government’s agenda 88 will also reach us. We are more than ready with our land to get us a district hospital”.

Mr. Agbeve added that, though the census officials are doing well in the discharge of their duties, there is the challenge of boundary issues.

The Chief Warrior of Agotime- Ziope, Nene Akoto-Saah VII also added his voice to the call for residents to be counted and should not disallow the census officials in carrying their duties.

“The Population and Housing Census that is going on is not something to be afraid of and it is not a partisan project, but rather to know the population for distribution of resources and developmental projects across the country”.

He also addressed the challenge earlier identified by Mr. Agbeve, that it has been resolved between the chiefs of the said towns.

This census which was to be carried out in 2020 could not hold because of the pandemic (COVID-19). And it is the first digitized census in the country.
